The course aims to acquaint students with the fundamentals of the discipline, to identify the tools for research and to explore some aspects of contemporary archives also in the digital context. Specifically, at the end of the course the student will be able to - identify an archive, also in relation to other cultural assets - understand the reasons for archival description and cataloguing - know the tools for archive and library research - recognise the design elements for the digitisation of cultural heritage - identify the digital transition path of public administration

Teaching Methods
The course consists of lectures with illustrations of practical cases and the examination of national and international projects. The second part of the course includes seminar work, guided tours and lectures by external speakers.
Assessment Methods
The examination consists of an oral interview aimed at ascertaining the acquisition and correct understanding of the course content. Knowledge of the topics, expositional ability and the capacity for critical analysis will be assessed. The final grade will take into account the accuracy and quality of the answers as well as the communicative ability and the ability to adequately motivate statements, analyses and judgements shown during the interview.
