FORMENTI DAMIANO

Damiano Formenti is a kinesiologist with a strong focus on translational research in sport science. He is an Associate Professor of Methods and Didactics of Sports Activities at the University of Insubria, Department of Biotechnology and Life Sciences.
He graduated in Science, Technique and Didactics of Sport and obtained a PhD in Sport Sciences from the University of Milan, during which he carried out a period at Finnmark University College in Alta (Norway). He also obtained a certificate of specialization in Psychophysiology and Cognitive Neuroscience at LUMSA University and was awarded a scholarship at the Istituto di Ricerche Farmacologiche Mario Negri IRCCS. He has research collaborations with national and international universities and research centers.
Before starting his academic career, he worked as a kinesiologist and federal technician in sports clubs related to swimming and synchronized swimming. Over the years, he has specialized in teaching motor activities for people with disabilities, with particular reference to intellectual and relational disabilities. He continues to work as a technician for athletes with intellectual impairments in swimming.
His professional skills have developed in parallel with his scientific research activity. The main objective of his research is to investigate the effects of physical activity and specific training methods on physical, psychophysiological, and cognitive variables across the lifespan.
He has published more than 70 papers, including articles in scientific journals and book chapters. He has served as a reviewer for more than 30 different scientific journals and is a member of the Editorial Board of BMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation, as well as Review Editor for Frontiers in Psychology, Frontiers in Physiology, and Frontiers in Sport and Active Living.
