CORTELEZZI FLAVIA

Flavia Cortelezzi is Full Professor of Political Economy at the University of Insubria, within the Department of Law, Economics and Cultures. Since 2005, she has conducted extensive and continuous research in the fields of international economics, development economics, finance, and the relationships between economics, law, and religion. At the same university, she previously served as Research Fellow and subsequently as Associate Professor. She holds a PhD in Economics and Institutions from the University of Bologna and a Master of Arts in Quantitative Economics from the Université Catholique de Louvain. She has also undertaken research activities at the London School of Economics. She currently teaches Political Economy, Emerging Market Economics, and Environmental and Regional Economics. Reflecting her interest in religiously oriented emerging markets, particularly in the field of Islamic finance, she also teaches the course “The Mediterranean Space: Religions, Economies and Cultures”. Her academic work includes participation in, and coordination of numerous research projects funded by national and European institutions, as well as collaborations with internationally recognised scholars and research centres. Her research output comprises numerous publications in leading peer-reviewed journals, and she has received several academic distinctions, including a Paper Award. She is currently a member of the Doctoral Board and serves as Vice-President of the Research Centre “Religions, Rights and Economies in the Mediterranean Area”.
