The research group focuses in the development of new analytical methods and instrumentation, aimed at the determination and speciation of trace and ultra-trace elements in environmental (water, soils and sediments) and biological (plankton, fish tissues) matrices, as well as commodities (e.g. milk, fuels and leather) and in the field of cultural heritage (mortars, frescoes and paintings).
For this purpose, chromatographic (HPLC, IC and GC), electroanalytical (voltammetry), spectroscopic (IR and UV-visible) and mass spectrometric (ICP-MS) techniques are used.
