VERONESI GIOVANNI

Giovanni Veronesi is Associate Professor in Biostatistics at the Research Center in Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine (EPIMED; https://epimed.uninsubria.eu), University of Insubria in Varese, Italy. He trained in biostatistics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (MSc, 2008) and at the University of Milano-Bicocca, were he earned his PhD in 2014 with a project on 20-year cardiovascular disease risk prediction modelling. He is senior statistician and co-PI in several population-based cohort studies in northern Italy (the MONICA-Brianza surveys, the RoCAV study cohort, the SEMM study). His main research interest is at the interplay of environmental, occupational, social and behavioral determinants of chronic - mainly cardiovascular - and of transmissible diseases. He serves as Member of the Steering Committee for the MORGAM consortium, and as Statistical Advisory Group for the Global Cardiovascular Risk Consortium, two large consortia of collaborative epidemiological studies. He is member of the International Society for Environmental Epidemiology (ISEE). At a national level, he is president-elected (2025-2027) for the Italian Society of Medical Statistics and Clinical Epidemiology (SISMEC), becoming President for the 2027-2029 biennium. For the same Society, he coordinates the working group on Environment, Climate and Health. He authored so far 158 peer-reviewed publications (H-index: 51). He was included in the Stanford University World's Top 2% Scientist in 2024 and 2025.
