Description
Curriculum Vitae – Tiziana Alberio
Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Insubria, Via Ravasi 2, 21100 Varese, Italy.
Tiziana Alberio was born in Busto Arsizio (VA), Italy, on May 3, 1981.
Her research mainly focuses on the pathogenetic mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration. In particular, her work has centered on Parkinson’s disease and, in recent years, on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Spinocerebellar Ataxia (SCAR30). She is currently working on a drug repurposing project for fibromyalgia.
She has adopted a multidisciplinary approach (combining biochemistry, proteomics, and systems biology) to investigate: (i) the role of mitochondrial dysfunction in neurodegeneration; (ii) specific and shared pathways of neurodegeneration; and (iii) protein network construction to better understand the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases.
She served as Executive Manager of the Italian initiative “Standardization of mitochondrial proteome analysis” within the mitochondrial Human Proteome Project (mt-HPP), part of the Human Proteome Project promoted by the Human Proteome Organization (HUPO). She was an elected member of the Executive Board of the Italian Proteomics Association (ItPA) for two terms (2019–2021, Board Member; 2022–2024, Treasurer) and is currently a member of the Education Committee of the European Proteomics Association (EuPA). She is also a faculty member of the PhD School in “Experimental and Translational Medicine”.
Tiziana Alberio is the author of 53 full papers published in international peer-reviewed journals (h-index = 21; 1,237 total citations according to Scopus). For further details, see her Scopus profile: https://www.scopus.com/authid/detail.uri?authorId=24398308700
